Note: Sanity is the main character of Encyclopedia Mysteria
Bio:Sanity is motivated by her nostalgia and curiosity. She likes to stay in her comfort zone, but she also is paradoxically crawn to the unknown, even though she is scared of it.
Occupation: Professor of Extradimensional Sciences at Camelot University and best-selling author.
Her parents disappeared when she was two, so she grew up with her uncle. She lived on her own for 10 years from age 14-24, reuniting with him recently.
As a kid, Sanity was homeschooled, and when she was lost in Mysteria, she learned much from experience, leading her to be one of the leading experts on the fourth dimension.
The main story of Encyclopedia Mysteria takes place in the 10 years she was lost.
Sanity is a human girl who was born to a pair of brilliant researchers in the suburbs of New Avalon. When she was two or three years old, her parents left on an expedition, leaving her with her uncle Serpinski Mandel, who was also a part of the archeology guild . She does not know what happened to her parents, only that they never returned.
For the next 12 years of her life, she grew up in Mr. Mandel's sky-blue beach house on the shores of Lake Clearwater, she would often go sailing with him on his all-terrain research vehicle, the S.S, Theseus, which was a tugboat shaped vehicle with four mechanized legs, each equipped with a powerful thruster that allowed it to travel by land, air, and sea. It recieved its name because nearly every piece of it had been replaced at least once by that point.
She also loved playing in the ruins scattered and buried by the sand (she discovered many an archeological dig site by accident this way.
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. A huge breakthrough came at the main dig site her uncle had been working at: The giant ruined arch that they had unearthed was discovered to be a portal, and it was still functional. It had activated out of the blue when a stray bolt of lightning from a recent storm had struck the keystone at its center.
over the next few months, one by one, expeditions were funded, and gradually, a majority of the researchers her uncle had worked with had been sent through the portal. Now it was their turn. She, her uncle, and her cat all boarded their research vehicle and left behind everything they had ever known.
The world beyond the gate, which had been dubbed Mysteria by a couple of uncreative scientists, was a place where everything you thought you knew was turned upside down and every time you thought you knew the rules, everything would shift into another completly illogical mess. It was a place where constants became suggestions and theoretical concepts existed in concrete form. One moment, you would be walking through a forest of spiraling fractals, then the next, you would be floating through the air in an endless abandoned city carved from towers of crystal or falling through the ground itself, and Sanity hated it.
She hated the cramped research dome. She hated having to wear a protective suit tethered to it every time she wanted to go outside. She hated the moist, flavorless algae protein cubes that were often the only food available. She wanted to go back home, to the sand and the surf and the sunlight, oh how she missed the sunlight.
There were ultraviolet solar lamps in the base, but they were just not the same.
A few weeks later, Sanity had hit her limit, she was going home whether Serpinski cared or not. She was going to steal the Theseus and drive herself all the way back to the portal and through it, back to her home.
That night, or what was supposedly night according to the clock. Sanity quietly donned her anomaly protection suit and slipped out of the airlock, thankfully, tonight, the gravity was mostly norma besides the clouds of feathers suspended in midair for as far as she could see. She could even see the portal glowing in the distance, this was going to be easy.
...
She was almost there, she could have eached out her hand and touched the smooth stones of the portal's arch, but a force was dragging her away, she knew this feeling. A chaos storm had begun. The laws of physics began to violently rip themselves apart and sew themselves together in all the wrong ways, Sanity felt like she wwas going to vomit, then she blacked out.
When she woke up, she was hopelessly lost. She spent 10 full years surviving in the uncharted areas of those strange lands. The accounts of the time spent there are all written in this encyclopedia, which she published after she found her way back out.
She is currently a professor of Extradimensional Science at Camelot University.
