Appearance
Lucite is a multicolored translucent crystal that forms in geometric spiral formations similar to Bismuth crystals. Lucite is roughly a 2.5 on the Mohs Hardness Scale, meaning it is is quite brittle. Sometimes you can catch glimpses of things reflected in its facets that are not apparent to the naked eye (See Hal)
Properties:
When Lucite is electrically stimulated, the current input into the crystal "shakes loose" energy contained within, causing a higher voltage to be output than was input. This slowly drains the crystal over time, eventually leading to Dead Lucite
Lucite also has extremely hallucinogenic properties when taken orally, injected, snorted ect.
In addition, with higher grade lucite samples, all hallucinations the subject experiences physically alter the reality around them, often leading to permanent effects on the subject and their surroundings. Overuse of this effect can result in a condition known as Lucitosis, in which lucite crystals build up in the users brain causing the effects to become permanent. (see: Lucitosis)
In addition to these properties, many creatures in Mysteria require Lucite to survive.
Lucite particles can also contaminate food and water sourced from nearby a deposit. To decontaminate an affected item, run electrical current through it. Any particles present should glow notably during the process. Continue running current through the contaminated food or water until particles cease to emit light, signifying their conversion to dead lucite.
Uses:
Energy source, Currency, Consumable item, Crafting material
Variants:
Lucite fog: a mist of lucite particles that causes the reality and mind altering effects of lucite when inhaled. Was used as a weapon by an ancient civilization (see: Unclear Bomb) (see: Ruins of White Marble.)
Dead Lucite: a dull variety of lucite with nearly no notable properties whatsoever. Safe to ingest, though provides no benifits.
Static: A mixture of Lucite and water, processed through The Black Box (see: The Machine) (see: Static)
Origin
Lucite itself is the crystallized form of leftover primordial chaos from the creation of the world.
It actively forms within Mysteria due to processes not fully understood.
